Understanding NDIS Physiotherapy: What You or Your Loved One Is Entitled To

Navigating the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can be complex. As a registered NDIS physiotherapy provider at Burwood Physio, we work with NDIS participants and their families every day to ensure they access the physiotherapy services they are entitled to. This guide explains the basics.

Is Physiotherapy Funded Under NDIS?

Yes. Physiotherapy is funded under the NDIS as a Capacity Building support, specifically under the category of Improved Health and Wellbeing (CB Daily Activity). It can also be funded under Improved Daily Living depending on the goals in a participant’s plan.

To access physiotherapy funding, it must be linked to a participant’s NDIS goals. Goals might include improving mobility, reducing pain, increasing independence, or preparing for a return to sport or work.

What Physiotherapy Services Are Covered?

NDIS-funded physiotherapy at Burwood Physio can include:

  • Initial assessments and functional capacity evaluations
  • Ongoing physiotherapy treatment sessions
  • Home exercise program design and review
  • Assistive technology assessments (for aids like walking frames, splints etc.)
  • Falls prevention and balance training
  • Hydrotherapy (if available and clinically indicated)
  • Neurological physiotherapy (for stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy)
  • Paediatric physiotherapy
  • NDIS progress reports and reassessment reports

Who Can Access NDIS Physiotherapy?

Any NDIS participant with physiotherapy funding in their plan can access our services. We work with:

  • Children and adults with physical disabilities
  • Participants with neurological conditions
  • People with developmental delays
  • Those with complex and chronic conditions

How Does NDIS Billing Work at Burwood Physio?

We handle all NDIS billing and claims directly — you do not need to manage the paperwork. We work with both:

  • Plan-managed participants: We invoice your plan manager directly.
  • Agency-managed participants: We claim directly through the NDIS portal.
  • Self-managed participants: We provide invoices for you to submit for reimbursement.

Our rates follow the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. There are no out-of-pocket charges beyond what NDIS funds.

How Do I Get Started?
